Toy Wooden Blocks
When I was a youngin’ we had 2 metal milk cases full of wooden blocks. They were beat up and had writing on them. My brother and I used to play with them for hours. We even had a museum quality steel tank replica that actually had steel tracks and a swivel top that ran on electricity. Today that tank would run on remote control but back then it had a cord and was always getting in the way as we built wooden forts out of our blocks and ran the tank over them. I still have the blocks. I used to make replica sets of blocks when I had my woodworking shop. I made the blocks and the wooden “milk” case they came in. The “milk” case had handles and was supposed to replicate our old HOOD metal cases. I sold them out of my shop and they were quite popular.
The wooden block sets we had which were probably somewhat used & abused when we got them, but I really can’t remember. They were definitely used once we started playing with them and today they show that ‘we enjoyed them a lot’ wear and tear. Toy blocks are one of the most hands-on creative, educational toys you can buy your children today because even YOU will play with them right along with your kids. The company below is an affiliate that carries wooden blocks. They are quite nice – some of which are painted. I’m sure you can draw on them too especially with all the magical writing tools we have today. You won’t have to use a big black permanent marker, graphite pencil, Crayola crayon or ball point pen like we did. You might even be able to use a washable writing tool. Wouldn’t that be great! Well thanks for letting me relive an important phase of my childhood. I should pull out those blocks and build something. Now that would be FUN!
So check out the wooden blocks and all the other wooden toys and puzzles this company has to offer and let me know how they are and send me photos of all the things your ‘kids’ build.
