Student Instruments: Woodwinds
This post is primarily aimed at the woodwind family. There will be other posts to follow that will highlight other musical instrument families. I presently have a high end student model * Yamaha YAS23 Alto Sax. Price was a huge factor in purchasing this instrument. I also have 2 fairly expensive mouthpieces that I purchased because the student version that came with this instrument was ‘not so good’.
* The YAS23 is a great choice for any beginner although it is easy and comfortable to play for any level player. This sax features nickel-plated keys, a floating octave mechanism, a clear-baked epoxy lacquer finish, and refined tone hole dimensions and placement, adjustable screws, and an adjustable thumb rest.
